Updating
Clauder and Claude Code update from the settings — no need to download files from the releases page and swap them by hand. It all lives in the Connection section, on the This connection card: under the version you see whether a newer one is out, with an Update button right there.
Only the machine's owner can start an update. A guest key only sees that a new version is out.
Clauder
What the button does depends on how Clauder is installed:
| Where | What happens |
|---|---|
| Windows, the app with a window | the app downloads the build, checks its checksum, replaces its own file and restarts. The file name stays the same, so autostart and shortcuts keep working |
| macOS, Linux, the VS Code panel | a link to the file for your build — you install it yourself |
| Android | the app checks its own version, downloads the APK and opens the system installer — you just confirm |
| Docker | only "a new one is out": the container is updated from the repository |
| iPhone and iPad | not installed from the app — see iPhone and iPad |
Clauder takes builds and the version list from its own website. The desktop app checks for updates at startup and from the tray, and shows a notification; you install from the settings.
Claude Code
Next to the CLI version a "newer one is out · Update" line appears. The update runs with a bar and real percentages; if the download breaks off, it resumes from the same place instead of starting over. If something goes wrong, the button stays, so you can retry.
On the phone
Claude Code in the Clauder Runtime companion updates with the same button, without a new APK. If an APK with a Claude Code no older than the downloaded one arrives later, the downloaded one is removed by itself.
Inside WSL
On Windows, WSL chats run not claude.exe but the Linux claude inside the distribution, and it ages separately. So under the main line there's one of its own — "Claude Code · WSL ubuntu": version, path and its own Update button with percentages. The build is downloaded on the Windows side and put into WSL ready to go — noticeably faster than the CLI fetching it from inside WSL. After the update WSL chats run on the new version right away. The same is in the Android settings. More about WSL in Windows and WSL together.
New version notification
You don't need to open the settings to learn about a release. The server checks Clauder, Claude Code and the WSL installations every few hours by itself and announces each new version once: a browser push, a message from the Telegram bot, a desktop app toast and an Android notification (the "Updates" channel). Tapping it takes you to the settings, to the Update button.
Scheduled quiet hours silence these notifications: a release isn't urgent. More about the channels in Notifications.
